Telescopic lift trucks
Telescopic lift trucks provide height and versatility. These units are outfitted with a pronged lift on an arm which extends over the top of the truck. The crane, or arm, is called a telescopic boom. The boom allows the operator to lift the load to great heights while maintaining a high degree of control. Regular forklifts could not move the load away from and towards the forklift cab, while a telescopic forklift allows that movement. The telescopic forklift is usually used in agriculture and construction. It is recommended for applications where greater control and lift is required.
In situations requiring high volume carton handling, hydraulic attachments called forklift carton clamp attachments are better. The attachment has arm pads with four way reversible rubber linings that allow the operator to use uniform clamping force when lifting a cargo. It is available with a backrest which protects the loads from damage.
A sleep sheet lift truck will often use a slip sheet attachment for storing systems that don't use pallets. The attachment clamps onto the slip sheet and pulls it onto the forks on the forklift. This type of system is handy for intra-corporate deliveries and for overseas shipments.
A man basket is a lift platform designed specially to raise personnel. The basket attaches to the forklift forks, held in with a chain or strap which is to be secured directly to the forklift carriage. The platform has railings to protect the workers from falling to the ground. Brackets on the platform are used for fastening the safety harness of the worker.
