Lift trucks are important pieces of machines utilized commonly in business, specially in distribution centers, warehouses, industrial and storage handling plants. A forklift truck is made of hundreds of parts, including the carriage, the cab, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Lift trucks generally have various types of attachments too. The following are some of the most important forklift parts.
Lift Truck Engine - At the back of the machinery, the lift truck has its power source. The various kinds of engine on the forklift would require varying power sources. Like for instance, a forklift with an IC engine can have any of the following as its source of power: diesel, gasoline, CNG gas or LP gas. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Frame of The Truck - The frame of the truck is the base of the forklift and the most vital of all the lift truck components. This forms the machine's core. All other parts of a forklift are attached to the base, like the wheels, axles, mast counterweight and overhead guard. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks could also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Forklift Parts - the counterweight is what enables the equipment to be balanced while lifting heavy loads. This component is made of heavy cast iron and is attached to the rear-end of the forklift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame in order to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. In an electric lift truck, the heavy lead-acid battery gives balance and can function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also known as the operator compartment. Lift trucks would sometimes have closed cabs whilst others would be open to the air. There are numerous components situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such essential parts like the steering wheel, operator controls, pedals, seats, switches and levers. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
