Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are large industrial machines designed with a straight boom arm that is extendable. The boom is usually situated on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are normally utilized for jobs which require tasks to be carried out at heights which exceed other kinds of lifts. For instance, workers can carry out exterior renovations or repairs on medium sized buildings but utilizing these lifts instead of having the extra work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The bucket of the boom lift generally only holds one employee. These buckets are more suited to particular jobs like electrical repair, rather than window washing or general maintenance. These lifts come in gas or electric configurations and are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Below the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the machine gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. Since these units should be directly positioned beneath the work location, these units are way more limited in their use compared to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, offer bigger platforms which allow the operator controlling the lift to access a bigger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a concern with these models, since they must sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for cladding or window installation, since they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a great choice for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The cherry picker or boom truck refers to the utility vehicle often used to raise employees for different jobs done at heights. Generally, these kinds of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and controls the machinery. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand as well as a winch for lifting and an actuator arm for raising the boom.
Cherry pickers can lift workers up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy materials and equipment for one place to another. There are a variety of different crane types which could perform various purposes. Both of these different kinds of equipment excel at different jobs and are great for particular applications and finishing particular jobs.
